Toilet Overflowing? Do This First

Stop the water before it reaches the floor below.

1. Turn Off the Water

Turn the small valve on the wall behind the toilet clockwise until it stops. If it is stuck, lift the tank lid and raise the float to stop the fill.

2. Do Not Flush Again

Flushing a clogged toilet adds more water. Try a plunger with a good seal, but stop if the bowl is close to the rim.

3. Call (610) 489-2717

If the clog will not clear or water is leaking through the floor, call us. We answer 24/7.

Toilet Repair

Most toilet problems come down to a few parts: the flapper, fill valve, flush valve, wax ring or the bolts that hold the toilet down. A running toilet alone can waste a large amount of water every day.

We find the worn part and replace it, and we tell you honestly when a toilet is old enough that replacing it makes more sense.

Running Toilet

Worn flapper, fill valve or flush valve.

Leaking at the Base

Failed wax ring or cracked flange.

Weak or Double Flush

Clogged rim jets, low tank level or worn parts.

Rocking Toilet

Loose bolts or a damaged flange underneath.

Food coloring in the tank is a quick leak test. If color reaches the bowl without flushing, the flapper needs replacing.

Toilet Installation & Replacement

We remove the old toilet, check the flange and floor for damage, and set the new toilet with a new wax ring, bolts and supply line so it does not leak or rock.

Choosing a new toilet? A WaterSense model uses 1.28 gallons per flush or less, and comfort-height toilets sit higher and are easier to use.

Low-Flow Toilets

WaterSense models that save water every flush.

Comfort Height

Taller seats that are easier to use.

Customer-Supplied

Flange Repairs

Damaged flanges fixed before the new toilet goes in.

Measure from the wall to the center of the floor bolts before you buy. Most toilets need a 12-inch rough-in, but some older homes have 10 or 14 inches.

Toilet Keeps Clogging?

A toilet that clogs again and again, or gurgles when another fixture drains, may have a problem further down the line, such as tree roots or a blocked sewer lateral. In older Montgomery County homes that is often the real cause.

Toilet Repair FAQs

Usually a worn flapper lets water leak into the bowl, or the fill valve does not shut off. Both are inexpensive parts to replace.

Most often the wax ring under the toilet has failed, or the toilet is rocking on loose bolts. Stop using it and have it reset before the subfloor is damaged.

Repair it if the bowl and tank are sound and the problem is a part. Replace it if the porcelain is cracked, it clogs constantly, or it is an old high-volume model.

Yes. We install customer-supplied toilets and bring the wax ring, bolts and supply line.

An older low-flow toilet, a partial clog in the drain, or a problem in the main sewer line are common causes. If plunging only helps for a while, have the line checked.
